Terms of Service

Effective date: August 1, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) and GreekNerds (“GreekNerds,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), governing your access to and use of the website located at greeknerds.com and any related services (collectively, the “Site”).

By accessing or using the Site in any manner, including browsing, creating an account, submitting content, or reading any information made available through the Site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must not access or use the Site.

You represent that you are at least 13 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are using the Site on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Use of the Site

GreekNerds is currently operating as a free, non-commercial public beta. The Site is provided for informational and community purposes to help students, alumni, and prospective new members share and access honest information about Greek life organizations.

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms and any applicable local, state, national, or international laws and regulations. Commercial use of the Site — including but not limited to scraping content for commercial purposes, using the Site to advertise products or services, or reselling access to Site content — is expressly prohibited without prior written consent from GreekNerds.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Site or any portion of it at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including during the public beta period. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Site.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To access certain features of the Site — including submitting reviews and managing your profile — you must create an account. When creating an account, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You must not create an account using a false identity, misrepresent your affiliation with any organization, or create accounts for others without their consent.

3.2 Account Security

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify GreekNerds immediately at help@greeknerds.com if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security. GreekNerds will not be liable for any losses resulting from unauthorized use of your account that you failed to report promptly.

3.3 Account Termination

We may suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, including the Community Guidelines incorporated herein. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us at help@greeknerds.com. Upon termination, your right to access the Site ceases immediately, though content you submitted prior to termination may remain on the Site in accordance with the license grant described in Section 4.

4. User-Generated Content

4.1 License Grant

By submitting any review, rating, comment, or other content to the Site (“User Content”), you grant GreekNerds a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, display, distribute, and otherwise exploit your User Content in any media or format now known or hereafter developed, for the purpose of operating, promoting, and improving the Site. This license survives the termination of your account.

4.2 Your Representations

By submitting User Content, you represent and warrant that: (a) the content reflects your honest, first-hand experience; (b) you own or otherwise have the right to grant the license described above; (c) the content does not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any third-party intellectual property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other rights; (d) the content is not defamatory, obscene, or otherwise unlawful; and (e) the content complies with these Terms and our Community Guidelines.

4.3 No Obligation to Publish

GreekNerds is not obligated to publish, display, or retain any User Content. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to remove, edit, or refuse to publish any User Content at any time and for any reason.

5. Community Guidelines

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Community Guidelines, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference. You agree to read and comply with the Community Guidelines in full. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Community Guidelines, these Terms will control unless the Community Guidelines expressly state otherwise.

6. Prohibited Conduct

In addition to the conduct prohibited under the Community Guidelines, you agree not to:

  • Name or identify individuals. Do not include the full name, social media handle, phone number, email address, or any other personally identifying information of any specific individual in any User Content.
  • Harass or intimidate. Do not use the Site to threaten, harass, bully, or intimidate any person or group of people.
  • Submit fake or coordinated reviews. Do not submit reviews that do not reflect your genuine first-hand experience, submit multiple reviews for the same chapter in a single semester, or coordinate with others to artificially inflate or deflate a chapter’s ratings.
  • Post illegal content. Do not submit content that describes, encourages, glorifies, or facilitates any illegal activity, including hazing.
  • Spam. Do not submit repetitive, off-topic, or promotional content.
  • Circumvent security. Do not attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Site or circumvent any security or authentication measures.
  • Impersonate. Do not impersonate GreekNerds, a GreekNerds employee, another user, or any other person or entity.
  • Interfere with the Site. Do not transmit viruses, malware, or any other harmful code, or interfere with the normal operation of the Site.

7. Content Moderation

GreekNerds employs both automated and manual review processes to help ensure that User Content complies with these Terms and our Community Guidelines. Automated systems may flag content for review before or after publication. Our moderation team reviews flagged content and makes final decisions regarding publication or removal.

We reserve the right — but are not obligated — to monitor, review, edit, remove, or refuse to publish any User Content at any time and for any reason, without notice and without liability to you. Moderation decisions are made in our sole discretion. We do not guarantee that all prohibited content will be identified or removed.

If you believe that content on the Site violates these Terms, you may report it by contacting help@greeknerds.com. Reports do not guarantee removal.

8. Disclaimer of Rankings

All chapter rankings displayed on the Site are mathematical aggregations of user-submitted review scores across defined rating categories. GreekNerds does not write, edit, curate, or otherwise influence individual reviews, nor does GreekNerds make any editorial judgment about the quality, character, reputation, or standing of any Greek chapter, organization, university, or governing council. Rankings reflect only the mathematical average of submitted user scores and are not endorsements or certifications by GreekNerds. A chapter must meet a minimum review threshold to appear in ranked lists; see our About page for details.

GreekNerds is not affiliated with any national Greek organization, university, Panhellenic association, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, or Multicultural Greek Council. Rankings and reviews on the Site should not be treated as authoritative evaluations and should be considered alongside other sources of information.

9. Limitation of Liability

THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. GREEKNERDS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GREEKNERDS AND ITS OPERATORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, PARTNERS, AND LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE.

Because GreekNerds is a free, non-commercial service, the total aggregate liability of GreekNerds to you for any claim arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site is capped at zero dollars ($0.00). Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GreekNerds and its operators, officers, employees, agents, partners, and licensors from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from: (a) your use of or access to the Site; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property right, privacy right, or publicity right.

11. Account Termination and Strike System

GreekNerds enforces these Terms and the Community Guidelines through a three-strike system. The specific operation of the strike system is described in the Community Guidelines. In summary:

  • Strike 1: Written warning. The offending content is removed and you are notified of the violation.
  • Strike 2: Seven-day posting suspension. You may continue to browse the Site but may not submit new content.
  • Strike 3: Permanent account ban. Your account is terminated and you are prohibited from creating new accounts.

GreekNerds reserves the right to bypass the strike system and immediately and permanently ban any account for severe violations, including but not limited to doxxing, posting illegal content, coordinated fake-review campaigns, or impersonation.

12. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the breach, termination, enforcement, interpretation, or validity thereof, or the use of the Site, shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by [ARBITRATION PROVIDER — OPERATOR TO FILL IN] in accordance with its rules then in effect. The arbitration shall be conducted in [CITY, STATE — OPERATOR TO FILL IN]. The arbitrator’s award shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class Action Waiver. You agree that any arbitration or other proceeding will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. You waive your right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent or stop actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of intellectual property rights.

13. Governing Law

14. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page and, where reasonably practicable, notify registered users by email or by a notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after any modification constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Site.

15. Miscellaneous

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and GreekNerds with respect to your use of the Site and supersede all prior agreements and understandings. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. These Terms may not be assigned by you without our prior written consent.
