Community Guidelines
Effective date: August 1, 2026
GreekNerds exists to give students honest, accurate information about Greek life. These guidelines exist to protect that mission — and to protect the people who rely on reviews to make important decisions. By using GreekNerds, you agree to follow these guidelines. They are incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service.
The Rules
No naming individuals
Do not identify specific people by name, social media handle, phone number, email address, student ID, physical description, or any other information that could be used to identify a private individual. Reviews must be about the organization and its culture — not about specific members. Naming individuals exposes them to harassment and can have real-world consequences for people who never consented to being reviewed publicly. This rule applies regardless of whether the information is already publicly available elsewhere.
No slurs or hate speech
Content that demeans, dehumanizes, or discriminates against any person or group based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited. This includes slurs, stereotypes used to insult, and content that calls for discrimination. Critique of specific chapter cultures or practices is permitted; hate speech directed at categories of people is not.
No threats, doxxing, or harassment
Do not post content that threatens, intimidates, or encourages harm toward any person or group. Do not share or link to private information about any individual — including home addresses, phone numbers, financial information, or other data obtained without the person’s consent — with the intent or likely effect of facilitating harassment. Do not use GreekNerds as a vehicle to conduct a targeted campaign against any individual.
No private ritual content
Do not share information about initiation rituals, secret ceremonies, internal chapter business, or any other content that members are expected to keep confidential as a condition of membership. We recognize that pledging processes vary widely. Content about the general experience of pledging is permitted; detailed ritual content is not.
No illegal-activity content
Do not describe, glorify, encourage, or instruct others in any illegal activity, including hazing, underage drinking, drug use, assault, or any other conduct that violates local, state, or federal law. You may describe that certain activities occurred (e.g., “there was a culture of hazing in this chapter”) without providing operational details. If you experienced or witnessed illegal hazing, we strongly encourage you to report it to your university and, where appropriate, law enforcement.
No spam or fake reviews
Reviews must reflect your honest, genuine, first-hand experience. Do not post a review you know to be false, misleading, or exaggerated. Do not create multiple accounts to submit additional reviews. Do not coordinate with others — including other chapter members or rivals — to artificially inflate or deflate a chapter’s ratings. Fake reviews harm prospective members who rely on this platform to make real decisions. The platform enforces a one-review-per-chapter-per-semester limit; attempts to circumvent this limit are prohibited.
First-hand experience only
Write only about experiences you personally had. Do not repeat rumors, second-hand accounts, or things you heard from others who are not you. If you did not experience something yourself, do not present it as fact in a review. This rule exists because second-hand information is unreliable and often unfair to the chapter being reviewed.
Constructive criticism over personal attacks
Critique the organization, its culture, its values, and its practices — not the personal character of individual members. There is a meaningful difference between writing “This chapter had a competitive, exclusive atmosphere that made it hard to feel welcome” and writing insults about people by name. Constructive criticism, even when sharply negative, helps future members make informed decisions. Personal attacks on individuals do not.
One review per chapter per semester
The platform enforces a limit of one review per chapter per semester per user account. This limit exists to prevent any single user from having an outsized influence on a chapter’s score and to encourage thoughtful, considered reviews rather than rapid-fire postings. Attempts to circumvent this limit — including by creating additional accounts — are a violation of these guidelines and the Terms of Service.
No privacy-violating content
Do not share other members’ personal information without their explicit consent, including contact information, location data, financial information, medical information, or any other information they have not chosen to make public. Do not share photos, videos, or audio recordings of people in private settings without their consent. Respect the privacy of everyone involved in Greek life, even when you disagree with them or had a negative experience.

GreekNerds enforces these guidelines through a three-strike system. Content that violates the guidelines is reviewed by our moderation team, which makes determinations in its sole discretion.
